Platabeen Rover Crew

Last night, Platabeen held our annual Stingy Iron Chef competition. For those unfamiliar with the challenge, Chefs are told what ~mystery ingredient~ they will have to cook with, and hero minutes before heading into the local supermarket where they can spend up to $15 on ingredients for their dish. This year’s secret ingredient – garlic.

After an hours cook, the three judges tasted each Chef’s dish, deliberated, and decided that this year’s Stingy Iron Chef was none other than baking queen – Nyssa!

Nyssa cooked mushrooms in burnt butter and garlic sauce, roasted garlic, parsnip and candied walnuts. This is Nyssa’s second win of the Stingy Iron Chef trophy, having won the comp back in 2014 with her honey mustard chicken drumsticks.

Congratulations Nyssa, and well done to the other competitors – Tim and Leon who tied for second place especially – who put up an excellent array of garlicky goodness. It’s safe to say that no vampires will be paying us a visit any time soon!
