New Members

Dear Parent/Potential Member

On behalf of 1St Collaroy Plateau Scout Group I would like to WELCOME you and your family to our group.

By becoming a member of 1st Collaroy Plateau Scout Group you are joining Scouts Australia, which is the largest youth movement in the world.

The 1st Collaroy Plateau Scout Group has four sections:-

  • Cub Pack (meets Wednesday 7.00pm to 8.30pm)
  • Scout Troop (meet Monday 7.00pm to 9.00pm)
  • Venturer Scout Troop (meets Wednesday 7.00pm to 9.30pm)
  • Rover Crew (meets Sunday from 7.00pm)

The Group is part of the Northern Beaches District, which is part of Sydney North Region of Scouts Australia.

Each section has a Leader and Assistant Leaders, parents also help out with badgework and on Pack holidays and camps.

Each section meets weekly during the school term, unless advised otherwise. Other activities do occur on weekends for special outings, camps, pack holidays and District activities.

A program of events/calendar is issued by each section at the beginning of the term outlining the focus of each meeting and any camps and special activities.

New members can try out a particular section as a new chum for six weeks without registering, but they cannot be invested and cannot go to District or Region events until they are registered. Once new members are registered they are invested and need to acquire a uniform. Parents and family friends are invited to attend the investiture.

This pack has the following forms (See Forms under New Members Tab)  that need to be completed and handed in to your section leader. In addition please read the Frequently Asked Questions section of this website.

  • Application for Youth Membership (Form Y1-(5pages) and Attachment to Y1))
  • Prohibited Employment Declaration to be completed by both parents
  • Scouts NSW Privacy Policy (to be read)

Copies of all membership forms are held confidentially by the Group Scout Leader and the originals are sent to the Scout Association. These forms are completed annually for registration purposes (in February) to ensure that our records are kept up to date.

Another important form you will see is the Activity Notification Form (Form A1). These forms need to be completed for all activities based outside the scout hall and will be sent to you for completion and approval by your section leader prior to the activity taking place.

We wish you and your family many happy adventures and fun times in Scouting.

Yours in Scouting,
Colin Turner
Group Scout Leader
